Correspondences

The development of this page was thought of when researching how Christophe Plantin had obtained the privilege of printing the Missal. The preserved letters of the printer having reached several thousands, transcribed printed on 8 books, the search for information was a little laborious. But by trying to establish a chronological framework thanks to the available archive, but also by the articles that had been written, several letters could be examined. In this digital object, we considered that it would be essential to continue the research to establish an easier way of access. Indeed, for volume 2 of the Correspondences alone, which covers our historical period, one can count over 300 pages of letters. Therefore, we have chosen to encode the digitized file of this work in the page. .

Index table of letters mentioning the Missal project

Collected by the former curator of the Plantin-Moretus Museum, Max Rooses, these letters have been published in several volumes, of which this is the second. In the table below, we have chosen to arrange them in chronological order and to add some data for further analysis. To consult a letter, simply click on its number in the left-hand column. A window will open to take you to the exact location in the book. If the viewer displays a black screen, simply scroll slightly with the mouse and the image will appear.
